Aerial Views

I know I promised photos of the State Fair, but unfortunately I haven't been able to get them together yet this week. This morning, though, I was on a plane looking out the window and admiring the sunrise from above. I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking at earth from an aerial view. Nearly 75% of the passengers on my plane were businessmen (and a woman or two) who looked bored as the plane took off and landed. I wonder how often you have to fly for it to become passè?

The funniest part was when the stewardess announced pre-boarding for the "Chairman's Preferred" frequent-flier members and almost everyone in the waiting area stood up and got in line! Such are the hazards of living near the "Research Triangle Park," I suppose.

In that train of thought, enjoy some cool maps/ landscapes from all over the web!

This company is actually run by a student in my program at UNC. A new use for figure-ground maps!

This woman hand-makes quilt maps.... and this company makes the LandCarpet (photo above). I like the way that it looks, but at $1,200, I would be afraid to have it in my house!
